What is EFT?
EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique is often referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. The technique is designed to work on releasing negative emotions that may be blocking or limiting a persons success.
EFT was developed by Gary Craig and is a simple yet powerful self help tool that can provide relief from emotional issues that are causing discomfort or pain.
How does it work?
‘The cause of all negative emotion is a disruption of the body’s energy system’ – Gary Craig.
EFT is based on the body’s acupuncture meridians and works by balancing and restoring flow to the body’s energy system. The meridians are the subtle energy pathways in our body similar to that of electricity. They were discovered and mapped over 5000 years ago by Chinese practitioners who developed the traditional Chinese therapy of acupuncture.
Strong emotions are often super charged with energy . When we experience overwhelming emotion it can cause an overload in our system almost like a power surge, this ‘surge’ can disrupt or block our flow of energy; our Chi.
EFT focuses on the negative emotions by bringing them in to the here and now and allowing them to be released which in turn can help to restore balance and flow to the body’s energy system.
EFT can enable a person to become more accepting of their negative thoughts and emotions making it easier for them to release them and gain a more positive perspective. The method works by tapping on points that correspond with major meridian points of the body.
What can EFT help?
- Pain relief
- Changing patterns of behaviour
The above list is just some of the areas that can be worked with. EFT can work through many ‘layers’ facilitating lasting relief and personal growth. Many people report immediate relief and a decrease in both physical and mental symptoms following a tapping session. The technique is relatively easy to follow and tutorials such at the one below can get you off to a good start but for full benefit or deep seated issues it is recommended that you work with a qualified EFT practitioner.
